CONGRATULATIONS Danielle your body shape is the breathtaking HOURGLASS. Your aim is to show off your naturally thin, beautifully defined waist at all times. Most females lust for an hourglass figure so embrace your beautiful body and follow these stylish tips.

PERFECT MATCH Wear wrap-around tops and dresses made in a supportive semi-firm fabric that helps to lift your bust. Using plain, or mid-sized prints, give you a match made in heaven. Also add a narrow sash or belt to give your figure an extra emphasis. You will also find a supportive bra lifting the bust will help the eye to skim over those not so favourite body parts.
Look for dresses, cardigans, T-shirts, shirts, jackets and wrap-around tops and dresses with a V-neck line. This is the most flattering neckline because it drags attention away from your bust and gives more attention to your killer waist. Shirts with give and side fastenings also work very well.

Coats require pocket flaps on the hips and jackets to include two buttons with a curved lapel for maximum impact that in turn mimic a naturally curved waist and dramatically cut bust size.

If you choose garments with sleeves they will add definition across your shoulders and hide that common unfavourable body part - the arms. Fluted, 3 quarter and puff sleeves work in favour of an hourglass figure. Avoid bat-wing sleeves as they add too much bulk to unwanted areas.

The pencil skirt looks impeccable on an hourglass figure; it’s a hard look for most people to pull off so please make sure you wear this item with pride and joy. Mid-rise and high waisted skirts, pants, jeans and shorts are also great options as they can help to diminish curves in the belly area. Trousers can be a tricky, look for draped fabric with a stretch top. A useful tip is to hide the top half of your pants with a body-length top.

NOT SO PERFECT  Trousers can be a headache to find a perfect fit. Loose fitting tops and shapeless dresses add bulk. Avoid accentuated shoulders or pocket detailing. Large prints will make you look unbalanced.

CELEBRITY EXAMPLES Marilyn Monroe, Kate Winslet, Mariah Carey and Salma Hayek.

PERSONAL STYLE You have dressing for your body type mastered, you know what works best and your wardrobe is in sync with your colour pallet spring. You like to look and feel comfortable which is reflected by your weekend hobbies; bush walking, family time, coffee dates, pub dining, movies, BBQ’s and shopping. You feel that you’re not in tune with fashion as you would like to be; dislikes uncomfortable clothing and overpriced. You admire the casual dress styles of Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel and Nicole Ritchie’s mega chic style. You are looking mainly for practical items but also need some help dressing for a formal event.

WARDROBE CULL I have picked out 3 items that I feel are no longer suitable and have explained why.

DRESS Not quite draped correctly. Elastic waist creates scrunched fabric folds adding bulk to the waist area. Under arm sleeve joins to the hip creating a top heavy look.

JACKET Bulky heavy weight fabric adds beef, doesn’t define body shape and has more than two buttons. Also doesn’t sit graciously on your rocking curves.

SINGLET TOP A rounded neck line uses extra material which gives the illusion there is more bulk on the bust, black is also too harsh on a spring skin tone.

MISSING WARDROBE PIECES I have found 5 examples that are missing classic key pieces that will accentuate all the items in your pre-existing wardrobe. BLACK + WHITE + RED = MONOCHROMANCE You stated that you will be attending an Autumn garden wedding and you are seeking advice on styling tips for a pre-existing wardrobe item that is a black and white body con dress. You also want help with different options for extra warmth if required and completed without breaking the budget.
Red will be the feature colour used to complement the monochromatic colour scheme that will bring an electrifying vibrancy and a beautiful fresh glow to a Spring completion. I have picked out some classic, elegant timeless pieces that can be reworked into your wardrobe for later occasions; pointed heels and blazer. Manageable, black classic pointed toe heels that can be worn with, or without, tights. Second item missing is the classic black cut blazer that features a flowing, yet simple, stylish cut in a smooth material that will add a new dimension and mimic curves.
Clutch is the perfect size to fit all personal effects comfortably. Red lipstick and bold red nails are a perfect match for a swinging 60’s up-do with a sleek black floppy bow headband & the perfect way to exhibit elaborate crystal earrings, paired with a matching necklace. Red woollen scarf will act as extra warmth worn layered under the blazer.
